Modern Egypt

Here we will talk about modern Egypt starting form the time of the French invasion of Egypt in 1798 as the Egyptians found themselves thinking again as Egyptians not as part of a vast Islamic empire as they had to fight and make sacrifices against the French invader then came Mohamad Aly Dynasty where The journey toward modernity began with Mohamad Aly himself ,who assumed power in 1805, With His ambitious modernization project involved building a new army and industrializing the country. His dynasty gained practical independence from Ottoman rule, controlling not only Egypt but also parts of North Africa and the Middle East. His sons and grandsons took a lot of steps towards modernizing the country as Ismaiel took a lot of steps in education and industry as well as a great system of irrigation which we are still using until today and of course building a modern city in Cairo which we still marvel at until today. with the last grandson of Mohamed Aly expelled from Egypt in 1952 the country became a republic in 1954 after gaining full independence form the British, transitioning from a kingdom to a republic with Mohamed Naguib as its first president then came Gamal Abdel Nasser. Subsequent decades saw autocratic leadership, with Nasser, Anwar Sadat, Hosni Mubarak who was ousted in 2011 with the all the turmoil that ensued that till stability came again with president Elsisi who is the current president of our country.
